   Big Ben is a name of a large bell in the center of the clock tower and located in the north of Westminster Palace, London. The officially name of this building is Elizabeth Tower, because it coincided with the 60th anniversary party Queen Elizabeth II. This tower was finished at 1858 and on 31 May 2009 this tower is exactly 150 years old.

  This tower was built as part of a plan to built a new palace by Charles Barry, after the old Westminster Palace was destroyed  by fire. The height of this tower is 96.3 meter and was built in Victorian Gothic Style.


Big Ben holds a record for being the largest four-sides clock tower with bells. at the bottom of

clock tower, on each side of the clock tower, there is written:
            DOMINE SALVAM FAC REGINAM NOSTRAM VICTORIAM PRIMAM 
                
                                         " Oh God, protect the first Queen Victoria "

it is believed that ' Big Ben ' name was named by Sir Benjamin Hall, but some others prove that ' Big Ben ' name was given by a boxer named Ben Caunt. The clock and the bell was design by Augustus Pugin. This clock is famous because it accuracy.

The great smog of London         The Great Smog of London, or Great Smog in 1952, was a  air pollution event that affected the capital of London in London in early December 1952. It because London in that year have a extreme cold weather and non-windy conditions. most of people  burn a coal to keep their body stay warm, but if coal burned for long duration, it will cause a thick layer of smoke above the city. London has suffered poor air quality since the 13th century  which worsened in the 1600s but Great Smog is known as the worst air pollution event in British history.
